Paintings can look even batter with a wooden edging all the way around. If the painting is also thin, it can add more presence on the wall. I typically would do this with a neutral wood edging.
I would then add hanging hardware to the back of the piece.
Some of the paintings were on canvas paper. These I will frame similar to a drawing or photograph but without the glass. A hard board will be added to the back. It will then be tacked in. Hanging hardware will be added.
