Self Portrait, 2020
Quilts are now 20% off. I want to make room for some new projects.
I created this Self Portrait using naturally dyed fabrics, colored pencil, thread and batting.
I used Black Walnut, Eucalyptus leaves, Pokeberry and Pomegranate skins for the colors.
Over our lockdown, I was teaching Life Drawing online. I drew a self portrait out with my students. I turned this into a version that I redrew on fabric with colored pencil. I then free motion quilted over it.
Over a show at the Museum of Northern California Art I sewed the background together over zoom with a treadle sewing machine that i rebuilt. I then stitched these together after.
It recently ventured to a show in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was called, “Material World: A Contemporary Fiber Art Exhibition.
