Weft and Willow Studio
Explore a range of creative projects.
Rebecca Shelly created Weft and Willow originally for a classroom where she taught weaving, spinning, natural dye and embroidery. She closed this in 2025 because she bought her first home. Now, she will be building up her Youtube Channel to show a variety of creative processes. She is also now the new Instructor with AVL Looms. She loves being able to join this community and share her interests with others. Her background is in painting and color has always been a major part of her creative journey. Over the years she has been obsessed with sewing garments, quilting, weaving, spinning, embroidery and natural dye. Over the past decade she has taught at California State University, Chico and Butte College in their Art Departments. Courses include Fiber Arts, Beginning and Intermediate Painting, 2D Design, Art Appreciation, Gallery Production, Basic, Intermediate Ideation and Life Drawing.
Rebecca never thought she would fall in love with fiber arts as much as she has. With her studio, she wove on the following looms: AVL, Dorset, Macomber, Glimåkra, Leizler, Norwood, Harrisville Designs, Schacht, Leclerc, Mountain, and Ashford. Many of these were gifts to her. She has woven on an Inkle, Tapestry, Floor, table and AVL Compudobby looms. When she had her studio, she would restore many of these looms and find new homes for them. She loves being able to keep weaving and spinning an interest for others. As a younger weaver, she feels a responsibility to be able to keep these types of creative processes alive. Currently, she is working with Instructor, Lauren Ruth to return weaving to the Chico State community. It has been wonderful to see their interest build with the Sculpture department.
